The Specter is a type of undead entity in which the soul was forced from the mortal form without death occurring. If the resultant creature is confused and unaware that it is no longer alive, it is called a poltergeist. If the resultant creature is aware and obviously angry, then it is called a specter.

Often discounted as a lesser undead spirit, the shadow is probably one of the most fearsome monsters known. While appearing as little more than darker than normal splotches in areas that are already full of darkness, the Shadow is virtually invisible unless a strong light source reveals them.

Rust Monsters are unintelligent scavengers that roam subterranean passages searching for ferrous metals. While they prefer metals with a larger quantity of iron (Iron, Steel, Adamantine or Mithril) they can also consume many alloys of that contain lower quantities.

One of the many dangerous beasts that is found primarily in the Underdark, these foul beasts have been sighted in other deep cave complexes that have no known connection to the underdark as well.

The Rakshasa are products of a dark ritual performed by the Devils of the Nine Hells. This ritual was intended to free them from their fiendish bodies and allow them to leave the lower planes. Very little is known about this ritual only that it must have been undertaken with the permission of the Lords of Hell.

Big cats are a common predator in the wilds of many lands, especially in uninhabited or less inhabited areas where game can be hunted, and they can live without excessive or undue interference from monstrous creatures or humanoids.

Owlbears tend to be solitary, or hunt as a mated pair. Exceptional parents, the Owlbears are cooperative caregivers, sharing the responsibility of defending and protecting the young

The Otyugh is a grotesque, bulbous creature that walks on three sturdy legs, matched by three tentacles of exceptional strength that snake from its upper torso

Legend has it that all the Oozes originated as fragments of the Demon Lord Jublex, while that is probably up to the lore of the individual Dungeon Master, it is obvious that they are a created, not an evolved creature.

Orcs are hulking brutes. Very High Strength, Very High Constitution, Above Average Dexterity, Very Low Intelligence. They wear hide armor and use great axes in melee.
