5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A Lizard Queen is a lizardfolk of above average height and intelligence, leading one or more loosely organized tribes of their non-fiendish kin. They have scales of various colors, ranging from green to brown to black, and yellow or red eyes. They have a long tail, sharp claws, and a powerful bite. They are often armed with a great trident, which they wield with great skill and ferocity. They have a trace of demonic blood in their veins, which gives them some resistance to fear and a cruel disposition. They serve the demon lord Sess’innek, who grants them some of his power in exchange for their loyalty and worship.

COMBAT

A Lizard Queen is a formidable opponent in combat, using her trident to skewer her enemies and gain temporary hit points from their blood. She can also bite and claw with her natural weapons, or throw her trident at a distance. She is adept at stealth and survival, using her darkvision and ability to hold her breath for long periods to ambush her foes or escape from danger. She is immune to being frightened, and can inspire fear in others with her presence and charisma. She is not afraid to use her tribe as cannon fodder, sending them ahead to soften up the enemy or distract them while she strikes from behind.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

A Lizard Queen usually lives in a swampy or marshy area, where she can find plenty of food and water. She rules over a tribe of lizardfolk, who obey her commands without question. She demands tribute from her subjects, often in the form of humans or other humanoids that she can eat or sacrifice to Sess’innek. She may also ally with other evil creatures, such as crocodiles, snakes, or even dragons, as long as they serve her interests. She is ruthless and ambitious, seeking to expand her territory and influence by any means necessary. She may also seek out other Lizard Kings or Queens, either to challenge them for supremacy or to mate with them and produce more demon-blooded offspring.

ECOLOGY

A Lizard Queen is a carnivore, preferring fresh meat over anything else. She will eat any creature that she can catch, but has a special taste for humans and their kin. She may also consume plants or fungi that have magical or medicinal properties, such as lotus flowers or mushrooms. She has a lifespan of about 60 years, but may live longer if she receives more power from Sess’innek. She can reproduce with any lizardfolk, but prefers those who share her demonic heritage. She lays a clutch of eggs once every few years, which she guards fiercely until they hatch. She may raise some of her young herself, or delegate them to other members of her tribe.
