5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A Kobold Scale Sorcerer is a small humanoid creature with reptilian features and a natural affinity for arcane magic. Its scales are usually rust-colored, but some kobolds may have scales that resemble those of a chromatic or metallic dragon. A Kobold Scale Sorcerer serves as an advisor and historian for its tribe, using its magic to aid its allies and harm its enemies. A Kobold Scale Sorcerer may also worship or serve a dragon, either out of reverence or fear .

COMBAT

A Kobold Scale Sorcerer is a 3rd-level spellcaster that uses Charisma as its spellcasting ability. It can cast a variety of spells, such as fire bolt, poison spray, charm person, chromatic orb, expeditious retreat, and scorching ray. It also has sorcery points that it can use to enhance its spells or create new effects. A Kobold Scale Sorcerer has advantage on attack rolls against creatures that are near its allies, thanks to its Pack Tactics trait. However, it also has disadvantage on attack rolls and perception checks in direct sunlight, due to its Sunlight Sensitivity trait .

HABITAT / SOCIETY

A Kobold Scale Sorcerer lives in a tribe of kobolds, usually in underground tunnels or caves. It is highly valued by its tribe for its magical abilities and knowledge, and often acts as a leader or a counselor. A Kobold Scale Sorcerer may also have a special relationship with a dragon, either as a servant, a worshipper, or a friend. Some kobolds may even believe that their scale sorcerers are chosen by their draconic god, Kurtulmak, who is imprisoned by the gnome god Garl Glittergold .

ECOLOGY

A Kobold Scale Sorcerer is a draconic creature that shares some traits with dragons, such as scales, claws, and breath weapons. However, it is much smaller and weaker than most dragons, and has to rely on its cunning and magic to survive. A Kobold Scale Sorcerer is omnivorous, eating anything that it can find or scavenge. It reproduces quickly, reaching maturity at 6 years old and living up to 120 years. A Kobold Scale Sorcerer may also inherit some of the personality traits of its dragon ancestor, such as greed, pride, or curiosity .

Because the kobolds’ deity remains imprisoned, most tribes lack individuals that can use divine magic, and so the scale sorcerers fill the roles of advisor and historian. In times of peace, they use their spells to fortify and enhance the warren and aid the rest of the tribe. When the tribe is threatened, a scale sorcerer lashes out with fire and poison against enemies, saving a bit of magic for itself in case it needs to flee or take advantage of a captor.
