DESCRIPTION

A Giant Vulture is a monstrous version of a normal vulture, with a wingspan of about 10 feet and a weight of over 200 pounds. It has dark brown or black feathers, a bald head and neck, and a hooked beak. Unlike its smaller kin, it has advanced intelligence and a malevolent bent. It can understand Common but cannot speak it. It enjoys the suffering of its prey and will attack wounded creatures to hasten their end.

COMBAT

A Giant Vulture is a cunning and ruthless predator that uses its keen sight and smell to locate potential victims. It prefers to hunt in packs, using its pack tactics to gain advantage on attack rolls. It can make two attacks per round: one with its beak and one with its talons. Its beak can pierce through armor and flesh, while its talons can slash and rend. A Giant Vulture is not afraid to fight larger or stronger foes, especially if they are injured or weakened.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

A Giant Vulture lives in arid or mountainous regions, where it can find plenty of carrion and weak creatures to feed on. It nests in high cliffs or rocky outcrops, often near human or humanoid settlements. It is not territorial and will share its hunting grounds with other Giant Vultures, forming loose flocks of up to a dozen members. A Giant Vulture is neutral evil in alignment and has no loyalty or compassion for anyone but itself. It will cooperate with other Giant Vultures only as long as it benefits from doing so.

ECOLOGY

A Giant Vulture is an important part of the natural cycle of life and death, as it scavenges the remains of dead animals and prevents the spread of disease. However, it also poses a threat to living creatures, as it will not hesitate to kill them if it gets the chance. A Giant Vulture can live for up to 50 years in the wild.
