Amorphous. The jelly can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.

Spider Climb. The jelly can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Split (suggested). When a jelly that is Medium or larger is subjected to lightning damage, it splits into two new jellies if it has at least 10 hit points. Each new jelly has hit points equal to half the original jelly’s, rounded down. New jellies are one size smaller than the original jelly and deal half bludgeoning damage with their pseudopod attack but the same amount of acid damage. A jelly can regrow its ability to split after it feeds on organic matter for at least one hour.

ACTIONS

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

An ochre jelly is a yellowish ooze that resembles a giant amoeba, with a diameter of up to 15 feet and a thickness of about 6 inches. It can slide under doors and through narrow cracks in pursuit of creatures to devour. It can also climb walls and ceilings, surprising its prey from above. It has no eyes, ears, or mouth, but it can sense its surroundings with blindsight. It has no intelligence or personality, and it acts on instinct alone.

COMBAT

An ochre jelly attacks by extending one or more pseudopods, which are appendages made of its own substance. It can slam and grapple foes with its pseudopods, dealing bludgeoning and acid damage. It can also climb walls and ceilings, surprising its prey from above. It is resistant to acid damage, and immune to lightning and slashing damage. In fact, when it is subjected to lightning or slashing damage, it splits into two smaller jellies, each with half the hit points of the original. This way, it can multiply and overwhelm its enemies. However, it can only split a limited number of times before it needs to feed and regrow.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

An ochre jelly is a solitary creature that lurks in dark and damp places, such as dungeons, sewers, marshes, and caves. It has no social structure or communication with other jellies, except when it encounters another jelly of the opposite sex. Then, it may merge with the other jelly for a brief period of time, exchanging genetic material and producing offspring. The offspring are released as tiny jellies that grow quickly by consuming organic matter.

ECOLOGY

An ochre jelly is a scavenger that feeds on any organic matter it can find, such as corpses, plants, fungi, and living creatures. It has no preference for any type of food, and it will eat anything that is not metal, stone, or wood. Its digestive enzymes dissolve flesh quickly, but have no effect on other substances. It leaves behind bones, metal objects, and other indigestible items as it moves along. An ochre jelly can survive for long periods of time without food, but it will become dormant and shrink in size until it finds a new source of nourishment.

An ochre jelly is sometimes tolerated in inhabited subterranean areas for its janitorial services, as it cleans up carrion and trash. However, this activity is difficult to organize and is usually not appreciated by the inhabitants because of its danger. An ochre jelly has few natural predators, as most creatures avoid or fear it. However, some creatures may use it as a weapon or a trap, such as drow cultists of Ghaunadaur, the god of oozes.
