5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

Gnoll hunters are the stealthiest and most cunning members of a gnoll war band. They are feral, hyena-headed humanoids that attack without warning, slaughtering their victims and devouring their flesh. Gnoll hunters are particularly skilled with the longbow, and they fire arrows with viciously barbed heads that cause excruciating pain and bleeding. They also wield spears for close combat, and they can bite with their powerful jaws. Gnoll hunters wear leather armor and often adorn themselves with trophies from their kills, such as bones, feathers, or scalps.

COMBAT

Gnoll hunters prefer to ambush their prey from a distance, using their darkvision and stealth skills to remain hidden. They target isolated or vulnerable enemies, such as spellcasters, healers, or scouts. They use their rampage ability to move quickly and make additional bite attacks when they reduce a creature to 0 hit points. Gnoll hunters are not afraid to fight in melee, but they will try to retreat if they are outnumbered or outmatched. They are loyal to their pack, and they will follow the orders of their leader, usually a gnoll alpha or a gnoll fang of Yeenoghu.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Gnoll hunters live in nomadic bands that roam the deserts, forests, grasslands, and hills in search of food and plunder. They are driven by an insatiable hunger that compels them to kill and eat anything they encounter. Gnoll hunters worship Yeenoghu, the demon lord of gnolls, who grants them a savage ferocity and a lust for blood. Gnoll hunters often serve as scouts, trackers, or raiders for larger gnoll armies that seek to spread chaos and destruction across the lands.

ECOLOGY

Gnoll hunters are carnivorous scavengers that consume any flesh they can find, including their own fallen comrades. They have a fast metabolism that allows them to digest bones and other hard materials. Gnoll hunters rarely hunt for sport or pleasure; they kill only to satisfy their hunger or their demonic patron. Gnoll hunters have a short lifespan, rarely exceeding 20 years. They reproduce by mating with other gnolls or by kidnapping and raping humanoid captives. Gnoll hunters have few natural predators, but they are often hunted by civilized races that view them as a menace.
