Shapechanger. The weretiger can use its action to polymorph into a tiger-humanoid hybrid or into a tiger, or back into its true form, which is humanoid. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn’t transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The weretiger has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Pounce (Tiger or Hybrid Form Only). If the weretiger moves at least 15 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the weretiger can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). In humanoid form, the weretiger makes two scimitar attacks or two longbow attacks. In hybrid form, it can attack like a humanoid or make two claw attacks.
  • Bite (Tiger or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a humanoid, it must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be cursed with weretiger lycanthropy.
  • Claw (Tiger or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage.
  • Scimitar (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.
  • Longbow (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

Weretigers are lycanthropes with a tiger animal form. They can shift between three forms: a humanoid form, a hybrid form, and a tiger form. Weretigers are usually neutral in alignment, preferring to avoid conflict and live in harmony with nature. They are proud and fastidious creatures, who value beauty, grace, and skill. They are also curious and adventurous, often traveling to explore new lands and cultures.

DESCRIPTION

In their humanoid form, weretigers tend to be sleekly muscular, taller than average, and very agile. Their voices are husky and they roll their r’s. Their eyes are usually amber or green, and their hair is often striped or streaked with orange, black, or white. Weretigers speak the languages of all feline breeds, so normal felines, including the great cats, have a high chance of being friendly toward them. Even feline monsters have a good chance of being automatically friendly.

In their hybrid form, weretigers grow fur, claws, fangs, and a tail, resembling a bipedal tiger. They are about 25% larger than their human form, and walk on their toes. The head is a mixture of human and tiger features, but the eyes and overall shape are human. If the human form’s hair is long, it is still present. The fingernails grow into claws. Despite the changes, the hybrid form can pass for human at a distance if properly disguised.

Their tiger form is indistinguishable from a normal tiger, except for their intelligence and ability to communicate telepathically with other lycanthropes.

COMBAT

Weretigers are formidable combatants, especially in their hybrid or tiger forms. They use their speed, stealth, and agility to surprise and overpower their foes. They can pounce on their prey, knocking them prone and biting them with their powerful jaws. They can also slash with their claws, rending flesh and causing bleeding wounds. Weretigers are immune to nonmagical weapons that are not silvered, and can regenerate some of their injuries. They also have keen senses of hearing and smell, giving them an advantage in tracking and perceiving their enemies.

Weretigers prefer to fight in groups, using teamwork and coordination to take down larger or more numerous opponents. They often use hit-and-run tactics, striking from the shadows and retreating to cover. They can also use their telepathy to communicate silently and plan their attacks. Weretigers rarely kill for sport or pleasure, but will defend themselves and their territory fiercely if provoked.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Weretigers typically live in warm or tropical regions, where they can find plenty of prey and cover. They favor forests, jungles, mountains, and plains as their habitats. They usually avoid urban areas and civilization, unless they have a specific reason or interest to do so.

Weretigers are social creatures, who form small groups called prides. A pride consists of a dominant male, one or more females, and their offspring. The male is the leader and protector of the pride, while the females are the hunters and caretakers. The offspring stay with the pride until they reach maturity, then either challenge the dominant male for leadership or leave to find their own territory.

Weretigers do not marry but have preferred mates, which may be either humans or tigers. Weretigers give birth to one or two cubs. The cubs are the hybrid form; they look like fuzzy human babies with tails. Cubs mature quickly. They can crawl within days, walk within a month, and hunt within a year. Their physical size matches that of a human child of three times the same age. At age six, they reach adolescence and gain the ability to transform into a fully human form. At age 12, they gain the ability to assume a full-tiger form; this is considered the mark of adulthood.

If a male weretiger mates with either a real tigress or human woman, the offspring initially has the same appearance as the mother. Lycanthropic transformations do not begin until the hybrid reaches adolescence.

Weretigers are not very religious, but they do respect nature and its balance. They worship no gods, but they do revere the spirits of their ancestors and the land. They often perform rituals and ceremonies to honor these spirits and ask for their guidance or blessing.

ECOLOGY

Weretigers are carnivorous predators, who feed on a variety of animals such as deer, boar, buffalo, and even elephants. They hunt in packs, using stealth and coordination to bring down their prey. They usually kill only what they need to survive, but will sometimes store excess food for later consumption.

Weretigers have few natural enemies, except for other lycanthropes or hunters who seek their pelts or trophies. They are also vulnerable to silver weapons, which can bypass their immunity and regeneration.

Weretigers have a complex relationship with humans. Some weretigers view humans as potential allies or friends, while others see them as enemies or prey. Some weretigers live among humans in disguise, hiding their true nature and blending into society. Others live apart from humans in isolation or secrecy, avoiding contact or interaction as much as possible.

Weretigers are the most adaptable of the lycanthropes. They are equally at home in human, feline, or monster company.

Weretigers are omnivorous. In the wild they roam a territory of 1d4+6 square miles. Their homes are usually near human settlements. These tend to be well kept cabins with small herb and vegetable gardens. The only livestock will be a variety of cats and some poultry.

Weretigers rarely live in confined settings such as cities or large towns because their lycanthropic nature would be hard to conceal. If found in such a setting, one or two weretigers in human form will be on an errand, such as a mission, a revel, or a simple shopping trip. In any form, weretigers are very confident and not prone to attack unless provoked.

Treasure varies widely, acquired as payment for past services, plunder from past adventures, or scavenged from the remains of past opponents. Weretigers have an affinity for gems and often keep a small cache hidden somewhere near their homes.

For various reasons weretigresses outnumber weretigers five to one.

Weretiger’s parts are employed as material component to empower the following spells:
