“Darkness only is faster than light”

The psionicist can manipulate and bend any light source in the area of effect. This psionic power allows to control and direct the flux of photons, so the psionicist can decide to deepen or lighten shadows, brighten or dim a light source, extend or shrink shadows, and any other effect the Game Master finds appropriate.

This psionic power can change the degree of Vision and Light (see Dungeon Master’s Guide) into any of the following levels as an action: lightly obscured, heavily obscured, bright light, dim light, and darkness.

A target left in total darkness, due to total lack of light, may suffer the blinded condition. The psionicist could also create stroboscopic effects to daze and confuse if the degree of Vision and Light is bright light. A dazed target suffers disadvantage on perception checks and loses its dexterity bonus to armor class unless he makes a successful Wisdom saving throw.

The source of light can be anything, from a torch, a lamp, a light spell, or direct sunlight. However, when this psionic power is used in concomitance with a light spell (or similar) or direct sunlight, it can transform the light into radiant damage.

The psionicist can create a burst of radiant damage when the psionic power is initiated or during the maintenance. This action requires the psionicist to spend a certain amount of PSPs to transform the light into radiant damage. The amount of damage and the cost in PSPs both depend on the light source, as described below.

  • Light spell (or similar). 1d6 radiant damage for every 8 PSPs spent, up to a maximum of 10d6.
  • Direct sunlight. 1d8 radiant damage for every 8 PSPs spent, up to a maximum of 15d6.

A successful Constitution saving throw halves the damage. A target who fails the saving throw suffers full damage and is blinded until the beginning of its next round.
