5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

Orogs are a subrace of orcs that have adapted to the harsh environment of the Underdark. They are also known as elite orcs, and are possibly mixed with ogre blood. They are taller, stronger, and smarter than typical orcs, and have large ears and pale eyes that help them see in the dark. They have a dark gray or black skin color, and often wear plate armor and spiked helmets. They have a fierce loyalty to their patron deity, Gruumsh, the god of orcs and conquest. They have their own standards and banners, which they display prominently. They are usually easy to identify among common orcs, as they are often found at the vanguard of large orc armies.

COMBAT

Orogs are skilled warriors and weaponsmiths, who use their own forges to craft deadly weapons from Underdark ores. They favor greatswords and throwing axes, which they decorate with hooks, sharp edges, and spines. They are also proficient with shields and javelins, and can use them to defend themselves or attack from a distance. Orogs are disciplined and organized in combat, and often follow the orders of a leader or a shaman. They are fearless and aggressive, and will fight to the death for their cause. They rarely go on patrol, as they prefer to engage in direct and decisive battles.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Orogs live in cities within the Underdark, usually near volcanic vents and magma pools. They use slave labor to expand their caverns and mine for resources. Their cities are built around their forges, which are open to any orog to use. Orogs have a hierarchical society, where the strongest and most intelligent orogs rise to positions of power and authority. They have a strong sense of honor and pride, and value strength, courage, and loyalty. They often raid other Underdark dwellers for slaves, loot, and territory. They also have a long-standing rivalry with the drow, who they despise and fear.

ECOLOGY

Orogs are omnivorous, and will eat almost anything they can find or kill. They prefer meat, especially from large and dangerous creatures, which they consider a sign of prowess and respect. They also consume fungi, moss, and roots that grow in the Underdark. They have a low tolerance for alcohol, and often become drunk and violent after drinking. They have a short lifespan, usually up to 85 years, and reach maturity at 12 years. They reproduce sexually, and have a gestation period of 6 months. They are extremely sensitive to bright light, which can blind them and cause severe blistering. They also have a natural resistance to fire and acid, which helps them survive in their volcanic environment.
