The psionicist can travel to the Astral Plane in astral form without leaving the body behind, but by bringing its body along instead, thus making this form of astral travel a completely different technique of travel as the one known as Astral Projection usually employed by arcane spellcasters. This psionic power does not produce a silvery cord that connects the body and the essence of the traveler, because both the essence and the body move to the astral plane.

Once in the astral plane, the psionicist is able to reach, and eventually cross, one of the many Color Pools that lead to a specific plane of existence, or the Outer Planes the psionicist wants to travel to.

In order to reach any of these color pools, the psionicist has to travel for 1d6+6 hours. There is no known way to reduce the travel time, because distances in the astral plane are relatives, and not absolutes.

Upon reaching the color pool, there is a flat 70% plus the psionicist’s Intelligence score (the GM rolls secretly) that the color pool will lead to the desired outer plane, but the psionicist cannot know in advance where the color pool leads. The only way to know where the color pool leads is to cross it, thus exiting the astral plane.

The psionicist can bring with him any number of willing creatures, as soon as he has enough PSPs to activate and maintain this psionic power. If for any reason the psionicist has not enough PSPs to maintain this psionic power, he will have to “drop” any target he is bringing with him. A target dropped by the psionicist does not return to the starting point, but is left floating in the astral plane instead, until the psionicist, or someone else, goes to rescue the target. A target under the effect of a mind affecting effect like charm or domination, is considered a willing target.

For each creature the psionicist bring to the astral plane, increase the Initial Cost, the Maintenance Cost and the Travel Time as follows:

  • Initial Cost: +10 PSPs
  • Maintenance Cost: +5 PSPs / hour
  • Travel Time: +1 hour
