ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The ultroloth can use its Hypnotic Gaze and makes three melee attacks.
  • Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage, or 8 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage if used with two hands.

  • Fists (suggested). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (1d12 + 5) slashing damage.
  • Hypnotic Gaze. The ultroloth’s eyes sparkle with opalescent light as it targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. If the target can see the ultroloth, the target must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or be charmed until the end of the ultroloth’s next turn. The charmed target is stunned. If the target’s saving throw is successful, the target is immune to the ultroloth’s gaze for the next 24 hours.
  • Teleport. The ultroloth magically teleports, along with any equipment it is wearing or carrying, up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

DESCRIPTION

The Ultroloth is a faceless humanoid with a bulbous, ovoid eye that glows like a fire opal. It wears a dark cloak and a hood that conceals its face, but not its intentions. The Ultroloth is a master of manipulation and deception, using its hypnotic gaze and telepathy to sway others to its will. It is loyal only to itself and its patron, the yugoloth, a fiendish creature that grants it power and wealth in exchange for its service.

COMBAT

The Ultroloth is a formidable foe in combat, using its innate magic and cunning to outsmart and overpower its enemies. It can cast spells such as symbol, invisibility, scorching ray, suggestion, and fire storm, as well as use its Hypnotic Gaze to dominate creatures or cast spells on them. It can also summon other yugoloths or mezzoloths to aid it in battle. The Ultroloth relies on stealth and surprise to strike from the shadows, using its telepathy to coordinate with its allies or deceive its foes.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

The Ultroloth lives in the Underdark, where it can find many secrets and opportunities to advance its schemes. It often travels between different regions of the Underdark, seeking new sources of power and influence. The Ultroloth has no fixed home or base of operations, but rather uses various locations as temporary hideouts or staging grounds. The Ultroloth does not form any lasting bonds or alliances with other creatures, but rather uses them as tools or pawns in its plans. The Ultroloth does not care about the consequences of its actions on others, as long as it serves its own interests.

ECOLOGY

The Ultroloth is a predator that feeds on fear and greed. It hunts other creatures in the Underdark, especially those that are weak or vulnerable. It also preys on those who are ambitious or foolish enough to trust it or follow it. The Ultroloth uses its Hypnotic Gaze to manipulate or enslave its victims, forcing them to do its bidding or share their resources with it. The Ultroloth also uses magic to enhance its abilities or create illusions that deceive others. The Ultroloth is immune to most forms of damage except magical ones.
