5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

Githyanki KITH’RAK

The githyanki are a race of astral plane-dwellers who were once enslaved by the mind flayers. They are ruthless pillagers and raiders of many worlds in the prime material plane, seeking to plunder their magic and riches. The githyanki have a militarized culture that assigns ranks and responsibilities to its citizens. The kith’rak are the mighty champions of the githyanki, who earn their status through torturous training and psionic testing. They command the respect of their underlings and lead them into battle against their enemies.

DESCRIPTION

A kith’rak is a tall and slender humanoid with rough, leathery yellow skin and deep-set, bright black eyes. They have a long and angular skull, with a small and highly placed flat nose, sharp teeth, and ears that are pointed and serrated in the back. They have black or red hair styled in a topknot. They wear plate armor and wield silver greatswords, which are imbued with psychic power and can harm creatures on the astral plane. A kith’rak also wears a distinctive helmet that covers most of their face, leaving only their eyes visible.

COMBAT

A kith’rak is a formidable opponent in combat, using their psionic abilities and martial skills to overwhelm their foes. They can innately cast spells such as mage hand, blur, jump, misty step, nondetection, plane shift, and telekinesis, requiring no components. They can also rally their troops by magically ending the charmed and frightened conditions on themselves and their allies within 30 feet. A kith’rak makes three greatsword attacks per round, dealing slashing and psychic damage. They can also parry one melee attack that would hit them by adding 4 to their armor class.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

A kith’rak lives on the astral plane, where they are immortal and do not age. They reside in massive citadels that float in the astral sea, surrounded by astral dreadnoughts and other creatures that serve as guardians. A kith’rak is part of a complex hierarchy that governs the githyanki society. They supervise ten sarths, who are githyanki warriors that lead groups of ten regular soldiers. Each group of ten kith’raks is led by a supreme commander, who answers only to Vlaakith, the leader of all githyanki. A kith’rak is loyal to Vlaakith and follows her orders without question.

ECOLOGY

A kith’rak is an omnivore that can eat any kind of food, but prefers meat over plants. They do not need to eat or drink while on the astral plane, but they do so when they raid other worlds for pleasure or necessity. A kith’rak does not reproduce sexually, but rather through a ritual that involves transferring their essence into a new body that is grown in a special chamber called a creche. This process allows them to retain their memories and abilities, but also makes them vulnerable to corruption by the mind flayers. A kith’rak has a lifespan of 72 to 120 years on the material plane, but can live indefinitely on the astral plane.
