Trample. If the war camel runs at least 20 feet as part of its movement, it can then use this action to trample all targets in a 10-foot square. The targets must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone and suffer 11 (2d6+4) bludgeoning damage. On a successful save, the creature takes no damage, isn’t knocked prone, and is pushed 5 feet out into an unoccupied space.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The war camel makes three attacks, one with its bite and two with its hooves.
  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d4+4) bludgeoning damage.
  • Hoove. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6+4) bludgeoning damage.
  • Spitting (Recharge 5-6, suggested). The camel spits at a target it can see within 5 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 9 Dexterity saving throw or be blinded until the end of the camel’s next turn.

DESCRIPTION

A war camel is a type of dromedary (one-humped) camel that has been specially trained for combat. War camels are larger and stronger than ordinary camels, and can carry a mounted fighter or a heavy load of equipment. War camels have thick fur that protects them from the heat and cold of the desert, and long eyelashes that shield their eyes from sand and dust. War camels have four sharp canine teeth that they use to bite their enemies, and powerful hooves that they can kick with. War camels are loyal and obedient to their owners, but can be stubborn and temperamental at times.

COMBAT

War camels are formidable opponents in battle, especially in desert terrain where they have an advantage over other mounts. War camels can move quickly and nimbly across sand and rocks, and can endure long periods of time without water or food. War camels can also withstand harsh weather conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, wind, or sandstorms. War camels are not afraid of combat, and will fight fiercely to protect themselves and their riders. War camels can bite with their teeth, dealing bludgeoning damage, or kick with their hooves, dealing slashing damage. War camels can also spit a foul substance at their enemies, causing them to suffer disadvantage on their next attack roll due to disgust.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

War camels are native to the deserts of the world, where they have been domesticated and bred by various cultures for centuries. War camels are mainly used by nomadic tribes, merchants, raiders, and adventurers who travel across the vast and inhospitable lands. War camels are also employed by some armies and kingdoms as cavalry or transport animals, especially in regions where horses are scarce or unsuitable. War camels are usually kept in herds or caravans, where they form strong bonds with each other and their owners. War camels are valued for their strength, endurance, loyalty, and intelligence, but also require proper care and training to maintain their health and performance.

ECOLOGY

War camels are herbivorous animals that feed on a variety of plants, such as grasses, shrubs, leaves, fruits, seeds, and roots. War camels can survive on sparse and dry vegetation, and can digest almost anything they eat. War camels can store water in their humps, which are actually made of fat tissue, and can go for weeks without drinking. War camels also have a special system of blood vessels in their nose that cools down the air they breathe, reducing water loss through evaporation. War camels have few natural predators in the desert, but may face threats from humans who hunt them for their meat, hide, milk, or bones.

War camels can be used as mounts or pulling animals for vehicles.
