5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

Gnoll Flesh Gnawers are a type of gnoll, a monstrous humanoid that resembles a hyena. Gnoll Flesh Gnawers are the most savage and feral of their kind, having a ravenous hunger for flesh and blood that drives them to attack anything that moves. They have greenish-gray skin, matted brown fur, and reddish-gray manes. They wear studded leather armor and wield short blades that they use with great speed and efficiency. They have darkvision and can see in the dark up to 60 feet. They speak Gnoll, a guttural language of barks and growls.

COMBAT

Gnoll Flesh Gnawers are fearless and relentless in combat, preferring to fight in close quarters with their blades and teeth. They often dash across the battlefield, slashing and snarling as they run down stragglers and finish off wounded foes. They have a special ability called Rampage, which allows them to move and bite as a bonus action when they reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on their turn. They are also very agile and can avoid opportunity attacks when they use their Sudden Rush ability, which increases their speed by 60 feet until the end of their turn. Gnoll Flesh Gnawers are loyal to their pack and will fight to the death for their leader or their god, Yeenoghu, the Demon Lord of Gnolls.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Gnoll Flesh Gnawers live in nomadic packs that roam the wilderness, hunting for prey and plunder. They are often found in arid or barren lands, where food is scarce and competition is fierce. They have no permanent settlements or structures, preferring to camp in caves, ruins, or makeshift shelters. They have no culture or civilization, only a brutal hierarchy based on strength and ferocity. The strongest gnoll is the pack leader, who commands the respect and obedience of the others. The pack leader is often a gnoll of a different type, such as a Fang of Yeenoghu or a Flind. Gnoll Flesh Gnawers worship Yeenoghu, who they believe created them from hyenas. They follow his commands without question, seeking to spread his chaos and carnage across the world. They also revere his heralds, such as the Shoosuva, a fiendish hyena-like creature that can paralyze its enemies with its stinger.

ECOLOGY

Gnoll Flesh Gnawers are predators that feed on flesh and blood of any creature they can kill. They have no regard for conservation or sustainability, often wiping out entire populations of animals or humanoids in their hunting grounds. They also cannibalize their own kind, devouring the flesh of their slain comrades but preserving the bones. They use these bones to create weapons, armor, or trophies. They also use them to perform rituals to Yeenoghu, hoping to bring him or his servants into the world. Sometimes, these rituals result in the creation of Gnoll Witherlings, undead gnolls that retain some of their former abilities but lose their minds. Gnoll Flesh Gnawers have few natural enemies, as most creatures avoid them or flee from them. However, they may encounter rivals or foes among other gnolls, such as the Gnoll Hunters or the Gnoll Vampire. They may also clash with other races that oppose their rampage, such as humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, or goblins.
