5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

Shoosuvas are large quadrupeds that stand about 6 feet tall at the shoulder. They have mottled skin and patchy fur that emit a nauseating yellow light, similar to a light cantrip. Their eyes are bloated and their mouths are filled with jagged teeth that drip with saliva. Their most distinctive feature is their long tail, which ends in a barbed stinger that can inject a potent paralytic poison.

Shoosuvas can communicate telepathically with any creature within 120 feet, and they speak Abyssal and Gnoll. They have darkvision up to 60 feet, and they are resistant to cold, fire, lightning, and nonmagical weapons. They are also immune to poison and charm or fear effects.

COMBAT

Shoosuvas are not afraid of being outnumbered or surrounded, as they can lash out at multiple enemies with their bite and tail attacks. Their bite can inflict severe piercing damage, while their tail can paralyze a creature for up to a minute. A paralyzed creature is helpless against the shoosuva and any nearby gnolls, who often finish off the victim with their spears or claws.

Shoosuvas are also adept at using their telepathy to influence or control gnolls within their range. They can command them to do their bidding, even if it means sacrificing themselves for the shoosuva’s benefit. Shoosuvas are loyal to their gnoll masters, but they also seek to further Yeenoghu’s agenda of spreading chaos and destruction.

Each shoosuva is bonded to a particular gnoll and fights alongside its master. A gnoll that has been gifted with a shoosuva is second only to a flind in status within a war band.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Shoosuvas originate from the Abyss, the plane of infinite evil and madness. They are manifestations of Yeenoghu’s will, and they serve as his emissaries and enforcers among the gnolls. Shoosuvas are revered by gnolls as sacred beasts, and they often lead them in rituals of slaughter and cannibalism. Shoosuvas enjoy feasting on rancid meat and carrion, especially the flesh of humanoids. They also delight in torturing and corrupting other creatures, turning them into twisted servants of Yeenoghu.

ECOLOGY

Shoosuvas are unnatural creatures that have no place in the natural order. They are agents of entropy and ruin, spreading disease and decay wherever they go. They have no predators or competitors, except for other demons or enemies of Yeenoghu. They have no need for reproduction or sustenance, as they are sustained by the dark power of their patron.

Shoosuvas have a negative impact on the environment and the creatures that live in it. They contaminate water sources, spoil crops, and kill livestock with their poison. They also hunt down and devour any intelligent beings they encounter, leaving behind only bones and blood. Shoosuvas are a menace to civilization and life itself, and they must be destroyed by any means necessary.
