Magic Resistance. The eladrin has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Sorrowful Presence. Any non-eladrin creature that starts its turn within 60 feet of the eladrin must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature becomes charmed by the eladrin for 1 minute. While charmed in this way, the creature has disadvantage on ability checks and saving throws. The charmed creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. 5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

Winter Eladrin are a type of fey that embody the season of winter. They are elves of the Feywild, a realm of perilous beauty and boundless magic. Winter Eladrin are usually sad, melancholy, or bitter, reflecting the sorrow that distresses them. They have blue and white features, such as pale skin, icy hair, and frozen tears. Their eyes are cold and distant, and their voices are soft and mournful. Winter Eladrin wear elegant and somber clothing, often adorned with snowflakes or frost patterns.

COMBAT

Winter Eladrin are skilled fighters, using their natural agility and magic to overcome their foes. They can teleport short distances with their Fey Step ability, which also allows them to inflict cold damage on nearby enemies. They have innate spellcasting abilities, using their intelligence as their spellcasting ability. They can cast fog cloud and gust of wind at will, and misty step once per day. They also have a unique spell called frigid rebuke, which deals cold damage and imposes disadvantage on attackers who hit them with melee attacks.

Winter Eladrin have a powerful ability called Sorrowful Presence, which affects any non-eladrin creature that starts its turn within 60 feet of them. The creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the Sorrowful Presence of all eladrin for the next 24 hours.

Winter Eladrin are resistant to spells and other magical effects, thanks to their Magic Resistance trait. They are also immune to cold damage and the effects of extreme cold.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Winter Eladrin dwell in the Feywild, a realm of wonder and whimsy that mirrors the natural world. They live in secluded places, such as frozen forests, icy mountains, or dark caves. They prefer solitude or small groups, avoiding contact with other fey or mortals. They rarely form lasting bonds, as they are prone to changing their seasons and moods.

Winter Eladrin are not evil, but they are often indifferent or hostile to outsiders. They value their freedom and autonomy above all else, and resent any attempts to control or manipulate them. They have a deep connection to the winter season, and may seek to spread its influence in the natural world. They may also act as guardians of ancient secrets or hidden treasures, protecting them from those who would misuse them.

Winter Eladrin can change their season according to their emotional state. For example, an eladrin might shift to autumn if filled with contentment, another eladrin could change to spring if bursting with joy, still another might become an eladrin of summer if angered or outraged. However, some eladrin remain in one season for most of their lives, finding it hard to escape their dominant emotion.

ECOLOGY

Winter Eladrin are part of the natural cycle of the Feywild, representing the aspect of decay and dormancy. They help maintain the balance between life and death, growth and decay, light and dark. They are also attuned to the magic of the Feywild, and can manipulate it to create illusions or enchantments.

Winter Eladrin have a lifespan similar to that of other elves, living for hundreds or thousands of years. They do not age visibly until they reach the end of their lives. They reproduce sexually, but they do not form lasting families or communities. Winter Eladrin children are rare and precious, and are raised by their parents until they reach maturity.

Winter Eladrin do not have a specific diet or preference for food. They can eat anything that is edible in the Feywild, but they do not require food or water to survive. They can also draw sustenance from the ambient magic of the Feywild.

Winter Eladrin have few natural enemies or predators in the Feywild, as most creatures respect or fear them. However, they may clash with other fey who have opposing goals or values, such as summer eladrin who seek to spread warmth and joy. Winter Eladrin may also face threats from mortals who invade their realm or seek to exploit its resources.
