The psionicist can create an astral body to travel in the Astral Plane, and from there, reach another plane of existence or the same Prime Material Plane.
If the destination is a plane of existence other than the same prime material plane, then the astral body will manifest in that plane in the form of a second physical body which resemble in all aspects the original body.
If the destination is the same prime material plane, then the astral body will not be able to manifest itself as a physical body, but the psionicist will be able to manifest its presence in the Ethereal Plane only.
The original physical body and the astral body are connected by the so called Silvery Cord.
The silvery cord is almost indestructible.
The Silver Swords of the Gythyanki is one of the few things that can severe the silvery cord. If for any reason the silvery cord is severed, both bodies, the astral and the original physical body, die immediately.
If the astral body (while travelling in the astral plane) is destroyed, or the physical manifestation of the astral body in another plane of existence is destroyed, then the silvery cord is interrupted and the psionic power ceases to work, but the original physical body suffers no permanent harmful consequences.
The psionicist can carry with the astral body any amount of equipment, but the Maintenance Cost will increase by 1 PSPs / hour for every 10 lbs of weight.
