This spell is a minor magical trick that novice spellcasters use for practice. You create one of the following magical effects within range:

  • You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor.
  • You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.
  • You instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot.
  • You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour.
  • You make a color, a small mark, or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for 1 hour.
  • You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand and that lasts until the end of your next turn.

If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an action.

SPELL VARIANT #1

You create an instantaneous sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor. The sensory effect impose a condition according to the spell components consumed. To resist the effect the target must make a successful DC 8 constitution saving throw. The target may attempt a new saving throw every round to end the effect.
Components. Eye of Grimlock (blinded), Gland of Troglodyte (poisoned), Piece of Shrieker (deafened), Pinch of Gelatinous Cube (restrained). If the spellcaster owns a familiar, increase the DC by 2 points.

SPELL VARIANT #2

Duration Up to 1 hour

You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire. The light or fire covers an area of up to 20 feet radius, and can blind or burn any target according to the spell component consumed to cast the spell. A light effect blinds the targets until they
make a successful DC 8 constitution saving throw. A fire effect causes 1 temporary damage to any target, unless they make a successful DC
8 dexterity saving throw.
Components. Eye of Grimlock (blinded), Gland of Giant Fire Beetle (fire damage). If the spellcaster owns a familiar, increase the DC by 2 points.

SPELL VARIANT #3

Duration Up to 1 hour

You instantaneously dean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot. This spell variant allows the spellcaster modifies the terrain under the target’s feet to knock it prone. The target must make a successful DC 8 dexterity saving throw to resist the spell.
Components. Scale of Giant Centipede. If the spellcaster owns a familiar, increase the DC by 2 points.

SPELL VARIANT #4

Duration Up to 1 hour

You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour. Whoever touches the object must make a DC 8 constitution saving throw of suffer 1 temporary cold of fire damage.
Components. Finger of Ghoul (cold damage), Gland of Giant Fire Beetle (fire damage). If the spellcaster owns a familiar, increase the DC by 2 points.

If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time and you can dismiss such an effect as an action.
