Acid Spit. The acid of the giant slug can corrode 1 foot of organic matter in one round.

All-round Vision. The giant slug have advantage on perception checks.

Siege Monster. The giant slug deals double damage to objects and structures.

Trample. The giant slug can move over any target. A target can avoid being trampled by making a DC 8 Dexterity saving throw and move 1 square in any direction. A trampled target takes 14 (4d6) bludgeoning damage each time the giant slug moves by one square and is restrained (escape DC 16). A restrained target automatically takes 14 (4d6) bludgeoning damage.

ACTIONS

  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (1d12 + 6) bludgeoning damage plus 9 (1d8+5) acid damage.
  • Acid Spit (Recharge 4-6). The giant slug spits acid in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that line must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A Giant Slug is a monstrous version of a common slug, but with a much larger size and a more deadly nature. These creatures have a thick, rubbery skin that is usually gray or white, and a pair of tentacles on their head that can sense vibrations and smells. They have a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and a tongue that can spit corrosive acid at their prey. Giant Slugs can grow up to 50 feet long and weigh several tons. They are able to squeeze through narrow spaces and climb on walls and ceilings, thanks to their slimy mucus that also protects them from fire and cold. They are omnivorous and will eat anything they can find, including plants, animals, carrion, and garbage. They have no sense of morality or loyalty, and will attack anything that moves or smells edible.

COMBAT

Giant Slugs are not very fast or agile, but they rely on their brute strength and acid attacks to overcome their enemies. They can bite with their powerful jaws, or lash out with their tentacles that can grapple and constrict their foes. They can also spit acid at a distance, either as a stream or as a spray that covers a wide area. The acid can dissolve most materials, including metal and stone, and cause severe damage to living tissue. Giant Slugs are immune to their own acid, as well as to poison and mind-affecting effects. They are vulnerable to electricity, however, which can stun them or cause them to lose control of their muscles.

Giant Slugs are immensely strong and can batter down doors and wooden buildings in seconds. They have no bones and can squeeze through holes and crevasses normally impassible to much smaller predators. For example, a party of adventurers might seek cover in a large stone building, while taunting the slowly approaching slug behind them. To their astonishment, the huge creature enters through the same doorway the party did and begins to send acid everywhere.

The rasping tongue of a giant slug enables it to burrow through 1 foot of earth or 6 inches of wood per round, making most standard barricades useless against it.

Because of their lack of bones and their thick, rubbery hides, giant slugs are not harmed by blunt weapons or spells that cause crushing or impact damage. Only edged and pointed weapons and magical attacks can harm a giant slug.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Giant Slugs can be found in any wet and dark environment, including deserted dungeons, swamps, forests, or rain forests. Giant Slugs are solitary creatures and speak no language. They are barely sentient, exhibiting only rudimentary instinctive reactions when confronted. They have no known predators.

ECOLOGY

Giant Slugs play an important role in the ecosystem, as they help decompose organic matter and recycle nutrients. They also serve as food for some predators, such as dragons, rocs, or purple worms. However, they can also pose a threat to the environment, as they can destroy crops, buildings, or natural formations with their acid. They can also spread diseases or parasites with their saliva or feces.

Giant Slugs reproduce by laying eggs in moist soil or rotting vegetation. The eggs hatch after a few weeks, and the young slugs grow rapidly until they reach maturity in about a year. Giant Slugs can live for several decades, unless they are killed by predators or adventurers.

No one has ever found a good use for giant slugs, except maybe as huge garbage disposals. They have such huge appetites that they rarely attack smaller creatures, such as squirrels and monkeys, which they have a hard time seeing anyway. Even on a good day, they must usually supplement their feedings with some vegetation.

Normal slugs have a nasty reaction to salt when it is sprinkled on them. They dry up and die. It is unlikely that this technique is adaptable to the giant variety, but some fabrication and summoning spells might be adaptable if there ever seemed to be a need for it.

For now, giant slugs remain a very real danger in jungles, forests, and dungeons everywhere.

Giant Slugs can be used as mounts or pulling animals for vehicles.
