Ethereal Jaunt. As a bonus action, the spider can magically shift from the Material Plane to the Ethereal Plane, or vice versa.

Ethereal Jaunt (suggested). As a bonus action, the spider can magically shift from the Material Plane to the Ethereal Plane, and vice versa. When the spider reappears on the Material Plane, it can make one bite attack against a creature within 5 feet of it. The spider has advantage on this attack roll. Alternatively, the spider can use its action to make one bite attack against a creature on the Ethereal Plane while it is there. The spider can’t use this ability again until it completes a short or long rest.CopiarReescribir

Spider Climb. The spider can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Web Walker. The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.

ACTIONS

  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 7 (1d10 + 2) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the target is stable but poisoned for 1 hour, even after regaining hit points, and is paralyzed while poisoned in this way.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A phase spider is a large and fearsome creature that can shift between the Material Plane and the Ethereal Plane at will. It has eight legs, a pair of large mandibles, and a bulbous abdomen that is covered in coarse fur. Its body is usually dark brown or black, with a distinctive pattern of white spots on its back. A phase spider’s eyes glow with a faint blue light when it is on the Ethereal Plane.

COMBAT

A phase spider is an aggressive predator that uses its ethereal jaunt ability to ambush unsuspecting prey. It can appear out of nowhere, bite its victim with its venomous fangs, and then vanish again before anyone can react. A phase spider’s bite can paralyze its target, making it easier to drag it back to its lair. A phase spider can also climb on walls and ceilings, and ignore webbing that might hinder its movement.

A phase spider has a unique ability to phase in and out of the Prime Material Plane. It phases in, attacks, and phases out, all in a single round. This gives it advantage on initiative rolls; if a phase spider wins initiative by more than 5, it attacks and phases out before its opponent has a chance to strike back. Then too, a phase spider usually phases into existence behind its chosen victim, so they get advantage for attacking from behind.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

A phase spider prefers to dwell in dark and secluded places, such as caves, ruins, or forests. It hunts both on the Material Plane and the Ethereal Plane, depending on the availability of food. A phase spider is usually solitary, but sometimes forms small groups with other phase spiders for mutual protection or mating. A phase spider lays eggs in a hidden nest, and guards them until they hatch. A phase spider is not intelligent enough to communicate with other creatures, but it can sense the presence of ethereal travelers.

ECOLOGY

A phase spider is a carnivore that feeds on any living creature it can catch. It has a varied diet, ranging from small animals to humanoids. A phase spider’s venom is highly prized by alchemists and poisoners, as it can induce paralysis or even death. A phase spider’s fur is also valuable, as it can be used to make cloaks or rugs that have a faint ethereal shimmer. A phase spider has few natural enemies, but it may be hunted by adventurers, ethereal marauders, or other planar creatures.
