Magic Resistance. The cadaver collector has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Summon Specters (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). As a bonus action, the cadaver collector calls up the enslaved spirits of those it has slain; 1d6 specters (without Sunlight Sensitivity) arise in unoccupied spaces within 15 feet of the cadaver collector. The specters act right after the cadaver collector on the same initiative count and fight until they’re destroyed. They disappear when the cadaver collector is destroyed.

Summon Specters (Suggested, Recharges 6). As a bonus action, the cadaver collector calls up the enslaved spirits of those it has slain:

  1. Specter (1d6)
  2. Zombie (2d10)
  3. Skeleton (2d12)
  4. Ghoul (2d6)
  5. Shadow (1d8)
  6. Wight (1d6)

arise in unoccupied spaces within 15 feet of the cadaver collector. The undead act right after the cadaver collector on the same initiative count and fight until they’re destroyed. They disappear when the cadaver collector is destroyed.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The cadaver collector makes two slam attacks.
  • Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage plus 16 (3dl0) necrotic damage.
  • Paralyzing Breath (Recharge 5- 6). The cadaver collector releases paralyzing gas in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a successful DC 18 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. A paralyzed creature repeats the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself with a success.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A cadaver collector is a large construct made of metal and bone, resembling a humanoid figure with spikes, blades, and hooks protruding from its body. It has a skull-like face with glowing red eyes and a mouth that can emit a paralyzing gas. Its limbs are covered with layers of armor salvaged from the corpses of fallen warriors, which it impales on its weapons and carries around as grisly trophies. A cadaver collector has no voice, but it can emit a loud clanging sound when it moves or attacks.

COMBAT

A cadaver collector is a formidable opponent in battle, capable of dealing massive damage with its slam attacks and necrotic energy. It can also use its paralyzing breath to immobilize its enemies, making them easy targets for its weapons or allies. A cadaver collector is immune to many types of damage and conditions, and has resistance to magic. It can also summon specters from the corpses it carries, creating a horde of undead minions that fight alongside it.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

A cadaver collector is not a natural creature, but a product of dark magic and war. It originates from the plane of Acheron, a realm of endless conflict and carnage, where it wanders aimlessly until it is summoned by a necromancer, hobgoblin general, or other evil warlord who seeks to bolster their army with a powerful weapon. A cadaver collector obeys its summoner until it is dismissed back to Acheron, but if the summoner dies or loses control, the cadaver collector may continue to rampage on its own, collecting more corpses for its shell.

ECOLOGY

A cadaver collector has no natural role in the ecosystem, as it is an artificial being that consumes no resources and produces no waste. It does not care for anything but killing and collecting corpses, which it uses as both armor and fuel for its necrotic power. A cadaver collector has no emotions, personality, or goals, except for serving its summoner or following its programming. It is a menace to any living creature that crosses its path, as it will either attack it or add it to its collection.
