Spellcasting (Lizardfolk Form Only). The lizardfolk is a 5th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The lizardfolk has the following druid spells prepared:

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack (Lizardfolk Form Only). The lizardfolk makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its claws.
  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage, or 7 (1d10 + 2) piercing damage in crocodile form. If the lizardfolk is in crocodile form and the target is a Large or smaller creature, the target is grappled (escape DC 12). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the lizardfolk can’t bite another target. If the lizardfolk reverts to its true form, the grapple ends.
  • Claws (Lizardfolk Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) slashing damage.
  • Change Shape (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). The lizardfolk magically polymorphs into a crocodile, remaining in that form for up to 1 hour. It can revert to its true form as a bonus action. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn’t transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

Lizardfolk shamans are the spiritual and magical leaders of their tribes, revered for their ability to commune with the lizardfolk god Semuanya and harness the power of nature. They are tall, muscular reptilian humanoids with green, brown, or gray scales and long, non-prehensile tails. They have sharp claws and teeth, which they use as weapons in combat. They also wear tribal ornaments and fetishes, such as bone necklaces, feather headdresses, and animal skins.

Lizardfolk shamans are adept at casting spells, especially those that manipulate the elements, heal wounds, or summon allies. They can also transform into crocodiles, a sacred animal for lizardfolk, and use their powerful jaws and tail to attack their enemies. Lizardfolk shamans are loyal to their tribe and Semuanya, and will fight to protect them from any threat.

COMBAT

Lizardfolk shamans prefer to use their spells in combat, rather than engaging in melee. They often cast spells that enhance their allies, such as bless, barkskin, or protection from energy, or that hinder their enemies, such as entangle, faerie fire, or heat metal. They also use spells that deal damage from a distance, such as produce flame, flaming sphere, or call lightning. Lizardfolk shamans are not afraid to use their wild shape ability to turn into crocodiles when they need to escape or surprise their foes. In this form, they can bite and grapple their targets, or use their tail to knock them prone.

Lizardfolk shamans are smart and tactical fighters, who know how to use their environment to their advantage. They often set up ambushes in swampy or watery areas, where they can hide and move easily. They also use their stealth and survival skills to avoid detection and track their prey. Lizardfolk shamans are loyal to their tribe and will cooperate with other lizardfolk warriors or scaleshields in combat. They will also summon or command other creatures that live in their habitat, such as giant lizards, crocodiles, snakes, or frogs.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Lizardfolk shamans live in tribal communities in warm or temperate marshes, swamps, jungles, or coastlines. They are usually found near bodies of water, where they can hunt for fish and other aquatic creatures. They build simple huts or caves out of mud, reeds, bones, and shells. Lizardfolk shamans are respected and feared by their tribe for their connection to Semuanya, the lizardfolk god of survival and propagation. They oversee the rites and ceremonies that honor Semuanya and ensure the tribe’s well-being. They also act as advisors and mediators for the tribal chief or queen.

Lizardfolk shamans have a pragmatic and stoic worldview, focused on survival and adaptation. They value strength, cunning, and loyalty over emotions or morals. They see other races as either potential allies or enemies, depending on how they affect the tribe’s interests. They are willing to trade or cooperate with other races if it benefits the tribe, but they will not hesitate to attack or betray them if they pose a threat. Lizardfolk shamans are sometimes corrupted by Sess’inek, a reptilian demon lord who seeks to dominate the lizardfolk. These shamans become more aggressive and violent, and try to spread Sess’inek’s influence among their tribe.

ECOLOGY

Lizardfolk shamans are an integral part of the lizardfolk ecology, as they ensure the balance and harmony between the tribe and nature. They use their magic to heal the sick or injured members of the tribe, as well as the plants and animals that sustain them. They also use their magic to control the weather and the elements, creating favorable conditions for hunting and fishing. They also use their magic to ward off predators or invaders that threaten the tribe’s territory.

Lizardfolk shamans have a symbiotic relationship with crocodiles, which they consider sacred animals. They can communicate with crocodiles using their speak with animals spell or their wild shape ability. They often keep crocodiles as pets or companions, feeding them and protecting them from harm. They also ride crocodiles into battle or use them as mounts for travel. Lizardfolk shamans also have a connection with other reptilian creatures that live in their habitat, such as giant lizards, snakes, or frogs. They can summon or command these creatures using their spells or their animal friendship ability.
