WRECK ASHORE – 3.5 One Shot Adventure PDF

The number of ships docking at the coastal town of Seawell has suddenly dropped, and raids by the local lizardfolk are increasing. The missing ships were all approaching from the reef side of the peninsula, so something must have happened to the lighthouse that normally guides ships safely past the danger. But what?

Wreck Ashore is a good one-shot adventure tuned for D&D 3.5, but very easy to adapt and convert for almost any fantasy RPG.

This adventure does not come with a geographical map, but includes the map of the ligthouse organized in three levels.

Wreck Ashore is available on DrivethruRpg for 0.99 dollars…basically nothing.

CARTOGRAPHY & MAPS

These are the main map elements the Game Master needs to procede with the adventure

  • A swampy peninsula or at least a wide region with access to sea and swamp/marsh inland terrain to represent the region around the town and exploration site.
  • A small town whose name is Seawell. A prosperous trading dock whose prosperity is strongly connected with the Lighthouse.
  • The lighthouse, the central element of the adventure, located at the top of a reef.
  • A beach to represent the pirates hideout and their hidden encampment

ECOLOGY & MONSTERS

Lizardfolk (or lizardmen), populate the swamps, together with other swamp creatures, so crocodiles, insects, weird amphibians or even worst thing can be deployed.

The adventure sets by default the lizardfolk as the dwellers of the swamp, but nothing prevents the Game Master from changing it to fit his goals.

The characters will have a chance to interact with the lizardfolk, this may occur in a hostile, neutral of friendly way.

TOWN OF SEAWELL

This may well be the starting point of the adventure. Here the characters can be hired and can refurbish before leaving. Their task is to investigate what is going on at the lighthouse.

THE LIGHTHOUSE

This the first place the characters will explore.

At this point the pirates become aware of the character presence, but the opposite may also occur.

THE PIRATES

They have killed the lighthouse occupants and built a fake lighthouse located 200 yards before the original one, but at the bottom of the reef.

This is deceiving merchant ships and one has already shipwrecked against the reef…for the joy of the pirates of course.

ADVENTURE GOAL

The characters will find themselves dealing with the unexpected presence of the pirates who are responsibles for the trouble at the lighthouse.

The band of pirates is a bit of a challenge to overcome without proper tactical preparation and organization.

The Game Master may want to recalibrate the composition of pirates members by adding other NPC or eventually monsters.
