The psionicist opens a dimensional gates into what is known as metadimension, and then will reappear at a destination in his Prima Material Plane.
A metadimension is a temporary warp in the fabric of space time that has no tie with any known plane. Whether this metadimension is a plane of objecive reality or subjective reality, it is not known yet.
If it is a plane of subjective reality, then it means that it exists as long as the traveller is crossing it, and then ceases to exist once the traveller leave it. If it is a plane of objective reality, then it means it exists always and it ay be another plane of existence or a parallel Prime Material Plane.
The psionicist only can cross the dimensional gate, and the gate closes the very moment the psionicist steps through it.
The environment in the metadimension is gray and silent, except for occasional sparks of light similar to lightning. The psionicist will find himself walking on a sort of ethereal and almost immaterial surface.
The psionicist can travel through at a speed of 24 miles every 10 minutes, but he is not able to see where he is heading and will have to rely on his instinct and orientation.
Every 10 minutes the psionicist must make a DC 8 Survival check, with the DC increasing by 1 point every turn spent in the metadimension. If the Survival check is successful, then the psionicist can continue the travel. If the skill check fails, the psionicist will be deviating from the destination of an amount of miles equal to the roll made.
If for any reason the psionicist cannot pay the Maintenance Cost while travelling in the metadimension, the psionic power ceases to function and the psionicist will remain in the metadimension. It is unknown if it is possible to open a gate inside the metadimension.
Magical items that rely on dimensional storage like the Bag of Holding, cease to work in the metadimension, and they become mundane items.
