“Match the frequency of reality, and you will control reality”
The psionicist forces molecular bonds of matter to enter a state of excitation that produces heat. This psionic power affects gaseous fluids, liquid fluids, and solid matter.
The Initial Cost, the Maintenance Cost, the Area of Effect, and the Suggested Effect produced by molecular agitation depends on the type of matter, as described below.
Gaseous Fluids: Initial Cost 6, Maintenance Cost 3, Area of Effect 20-foot cube.
- Suggested Effect: The air in the area of effect becomes soaring to the point of damaging the throat and lungs. Every creature in the area of effect suffers 1d4 cumulative fire damage per round. Other effects may trigger at Game Master’s discretion. For example, using this psionic power inside a mine that contains flammable gases will probably ignite the gases and cause a detonation.
Liquid Fluids: Initial Cost 8, Maintenance Cost 4, Area of Effect 10-foot cube.
- Suggested Effect: The liquid in the area of effect boils causing burns and excruciating pain. Every creature in the area of effect suffers 1d6 cumulative fire damage per round. Other effects may trigger at Game Master’s discretion. For example, flammable liquids like oil will ignite and turn into a hell of fire, whilst other liquid compounds may become poisonous gaseous exhalations.
Solid Matter (paper, dry fibers, etc.): Initial Cost 10, Maintenance Cost 5, Area of Effect 1 object (50 lbs).
- Suggested Effect: Flammable materials like vegetable fibers, ignite immediately. They are turned into ashes at the end of the next round, and any creature in contact with the ignited material suffers 1d4 fire damage per round.
Solid Matter (metals): Initial Cost 20, Maintenance Cost 10, Area of Effect 1 object (25 lbs).
- Suggested Effect: Metallic materials become scorching at the end of the round. Every creature in contact with the scorching metal suffers 1d8 fire damage per round. In the subsequent round, the metal melts, and the object loses its structural integrity. The Game Master can state that some metals are more resistant, especially steel alloys, and thus a further round is required to melt the metal.
Solid Matter (rock): Initial Cost 30, Maintenance Cost 15, Area of Effect 1 object (10 lbs).
- Suggested Effect: Rocky compounds are heated to the point of becoming fluids like scorching magma. Every creature in contact with the heated material suffers 1d10 damage per round.
The suggested effects provide a general idea of what this psionic power can do. The Game Master, together with the players, is encouraged to evaluate specific situations that are not encompassed in this description. In addition, if you want to modify the Area of Effect make proper calculations.
