When the ship is falling apart and the air is running thin, you don’t need a degree in Xenobiology—you need someone who can fix a fusion leak with a roll of duct tape and sheer grit. Welcome to the final entry in our Mothership RPG character guide series. Today, we look at the survivors who keep the galaxy running: The Teamster.
The Rough and Tumble Crew
The Teamster is the quintessential space-farer. If Ellen Ripley is your TTRPG hero, this is the class for you. When you roll your 6d10 for stats, you apply a +5 to both Strength and Speed, making you one of the most physically capable members of the crew.
Furthermore, the Teamster possesses a unique psychological resilience. While other classes buckle under the weight of cosmic horror, the Teamster is used to the daily grind of space. Mechanically, this is your greatest asset: Once per session, a Teamster may re-roll a single roll on the Panic Effect Table. This “second chance” can be the difference between a minor adrenaline rush and a fatal heart attack.

Mechanical Mastery
Teamsters are built to maintain the machines that keep everyone alive. You start preloaded with two of the most practical skills in the game:
- Zero-G: Essential for maneuvering in the vacuum when the gravity goes out.
- Mechanical Repair: The bread and butter of ship maintenance. In addition to these, you get to pick between Heavy Machinery or Piloting, plus you receive +4 Skill Points to spend immediately. This makes the Teamster the most versatile class for ship-to-ship survival and planetary excavation.
Starting Loadout: Excavation
We highly recommend the Excavation Loadout for a starting Teamster. It turns you into a walking toolkit:
- Crowbar & Hand Welder: For opening jammed airlocks or cutting through bulkhead doors.
- Laser Cutter: A powerful tool that doubles as a terrifying 1d10 Megadamage (MDMG) weapon against ships or a 1d% weapon against personnel.
- Vaccsuit: Grants a +7% Armor Save and the ability to operate in the void.
Strategic Utility
Because you are likely the one with the Mechanical Repair and Engineering skills, the crew’s survival depends on your Intellect Checks during a crisis. Consequently, while the Marines are hunting bugs, your job is often to stay behind and ensure the ship is actually capable of jumping out of the system once the shooting starts.
