Dance of Ruin (suggested). When five or more vrocks are within 30 feet of each other and engaged in melee combat, they can use their bonus action to start a ritual dance. The vrocks fight in a dance-like style, screeching and chanting in Abyssal. After three rounds, a blast of energy erupts from the center of the group. Each creature within 100 feet of the group must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or take 22 (4d10) thunder damage, or half as much damage on a successful save. The dance ends if any vrock moves more than 30 feet away from another vrock, or falls unconscious. All creatures, including the vrocks, are affected by the blast. While dancing, each vrock gains a +2 bonus to its AC.

Magic Resistance. The vrock has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The vrock makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its talons.
  • Multiattack (suggested). The vrock makes five attacks: one with its beak, two with its talons and two with its claws.
  • Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage.
  • Claws (suggested). Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.
  • Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d10 + 3) slashing damage.
  • Talons (suggested). Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage.
  • Spores (Recharge 6). A 15-foot-radius cloud of toxic spores extends out from the vrock. The spores spread around corners. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned. While poisoned in this way, a target takes 5 (1d10) poison damage at the start of each of its turns. A target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. Emptying a vial of holy water on the target also ends the effect on it.
  • Spores (suggested, Recharge 5-6). As an action, the vrock can release a cloud of toxic spores that affects all creatures within 15 feet of it. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or become infected. An infected creature takes 1d10 poison damage at the start of each of its turns. The infection lasts for 1 minute, unless it is ended by a lesser restoration or similar magic. While infected, the creature is also poisoned.
  • Stunning Screech (1/Day). The vrock emits a horrific screech. Each creature within 20 feet of it that can hear it and that isn’t a demon must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of the vrock’s next turn.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A vrock is a type of demon that resembles a humanoid with the head, claws, and wings of a giant vulture. It stands about eight feet tall and weighs around 500 pounds. Its body is covered with gray feathers and sinewy muscles, and it emits a foul stench of carrion and offal. Its eyes glow with a keen, predatory intelligence and a burning hatred for all living things. Vrocks are also known as type I demons or vulture demons.

COMBAT

Vrocks are vicious and bloodthirsty fiends that live only to create pain and carnage. They prefer to attack in groups, using their ability to coordinate and synchronize their actions with uncanny grace and skill. They often use their screech to stun their enemies, then swoop down to rend them with their powerful beaks and talons. They can also release a cloud of toxic spores that infects and poisons anyone nearby, or unleash a blast of energy by performing a ritual dance of ruin.

Vrocks are not very loyal or trustworthy, even to their own kind. They can be easily bribed or lured away by promises of treasure or more powerful masters. They are also capricious and reckless, sometimes abandoning their jobs or allies for no apparent reason. They have a strong sense of self-preservation, however, and will flee or surrender if they face overwhelming odds or serious injury.

Vrocks serve as elite fighting troops in the Blood War, the eternal conflict between demons and devils. They are often sent on missions such as infiltration and other covert operations. They have no fixed hierarchy or organization, but they tend to flock together with other vrocks for mutual protection and advantage.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Vrocks originate from the Abyss, the chaotic evil plane of existence where they are spawned from the ancient sins of hatred and wrath in mortal souls. They inhabit various layers of the Abyss, often serving as foot soldiers or scouts for more powerful demons. They have no culture or civilization of their own, but they mimic the habits and customs of their masters or enemies. They speak Abyssal, the common language of demons, and sometimes learn other languages as well. They have no concept of morality or honor, but they respect strength and fear. They enjoy torturing and devouring their victims, especially humanoids, whom they consider a delicacy.

ECOLOGY

Vrocks are unnatural creatures that have no place in the natural order. They do not reproduce sexually, but rather through a process of transformation. When other demons become vrocks, they first enter an egg form that can be prevented from hatching by various means. If the egg hatches, however, the new vrock emerges fully formed and ready to join its kin.

Vrocks have no need for food or water, but they consume flesh and blood for pleasure and sustenance. They can also feed on negative emotions, such as fear, anger, or pain, which fuel their demonic power. They have few natural predators, but they are hunted by celestials, paladins, and other enemies of evil. They are also vulnerable to holy water and certain spells that can harm or banish them.
