Keen Smell. The troll has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Poison Splash. When the troll takes damage of any type but psychic, each creature within 5 feet of the troll takes 9 (2d8) poison damage.
Regeneration. The troll regains 10 hit points at the start of each of its turns. If the troll takes acid or fire damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of the troll’s next turn. The troll dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate.
ACTIONS
- Multiattack. The troll makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
- Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) poison damage, and the creature is poisoned until the start of the troll’s next turn.
- Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) poison damage.
- Venom Spray (Recharge 6). The troll slices itself with a claw, releasing a spray of poison in a 15-foot cube. The troll takes 7 (2d6) slashing damage (this damage can’t be reduced in any way). Each creature in the area must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 18 (4d8) poison damage and is poisoned for 1 minute. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and isn’t poisoned. A poisoned creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
A Venom Troll is a monstrous creature that has been mutated by exposure to massive doses of poison. Its skin is covered with blisters and boils that ooze a toxic substance, and its teeth and claws are coated with venom. A Venom Troll has a keen sense of smell, which it uses to track down prey and avoid enemies. A Venom Troll is larger and stronger than a normal troll, but also more vulnerable to fire and acid.
COMBAT
A Venom Troll is a fearsome opponent in close combat, as it can inflict poison damage with its bite and claws. Additionally, whenever the troll takes damage, it releases a spray of poison from its wounds, affecting nearby creatures. A Venom Troll can also slice itself with a claw to unleash a powerful venom spray in a cone, at the cost of some of its own health. A Venom Troll can regenerate from most injuries, but fire and acid can slow down or stop its healing factor.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
A Venom Troll is usually a solitary creature, as it is shunned by other trolls for its deformity and toxicity. A Venom Troll prefers to live in dark and damp places, such as swamps, caves, or ruins, where it can ambush unsuspecting prey. A Venom Troll is not very intelligent, but it can understand the Giant language and communicate with simple grunts and gestures. A Venom Troll is chaotic evil in alignment, and will attack anything that it perceives as a threat or a meal.
ECOLOGY
A Venom Troll is a carnivorous creature that feeds on any living thing it can catch and kill. A Venom Troll’s poison is potent enough to kill most creatures, but some may develop immunity or resistance to it over time. A Venom Troll’s poison can also affect the environment, as it can contaminate water sources, soil, and plants. A Venom Troll’s body parts are valuable to some alchemists and poisoners, who can use them to create deadly concoctions.
