Incorporeal Movement. The troll can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.
Regeneration. The troll regains 10 hit points at the start of each of its turns. If the troll takes psychic or force damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of the troll’s next turn. The troll dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate.
ACTIONS
- Multiattack. The troll makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
- Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 19 (3d10 + 3) psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned for 1 minute. The stunned target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
- Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 14 (2d10 + 3) psychic damage.
- Claws (suggested). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 14 (2d10 + 3) psychic damage.
5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
A spirit troll is a rare and mysterious creature that is the result of a magical hybridization between a troll and an invisible stalker, or a troll that has been exposed to intense psychic energy. A spirit troll has the general shape and features of a troll, but its body is invisible and intangible, like a shadow. A spirit troll can only be seen by its glowing red eyes and its faint outline when it moves. A spirit troll is very intelligent and cunning, and can speak Giant and sometimes other languages.
COMBAT
A spirit troll is a formidable opponent in combat, as it can attack with its claws and bite, which deal psychic damage and can stun its victims. A spirit troll can also move through solid objects and creatures, making it hard to hit or escape from. A spirit troll is immune to nonmagical weapons and most types of damage, except fire, which can prevent its regeneration. A spirit troll can also heal from any wound quickly, unless it is burned or exposed to sunlight, which can destroy it permanently.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
A spirit troll is a solitary creature that prefers to dwell in dark and secluded places, such as caves, forests, or ruins. A spirit troll avoids contact with other creatures, except when it hunts for food or seeks revenge. A spirit troll is very territorial and will attack anyone who trespasses on its domain. A spirit troll has a strong hatred for other trolls, especially those who have harmed it in the past. A spirit troll may sometimes ally with other evil creatures, such as hags or vampires, if it serves its interests.
ECOLOGY
A spirit troll is a carnivore that feeds on the flesh and life force of living creatures. A spirit troll can consume any type of meat, but prefers intelligent prey, such as humans or elves. A spirit troll can sense the presence of living beings within 60 feet of it, and will stalk and ambush them with stealth and speed. A spirit troll does not need to eat often, as it can sustain itself on the ambient magic of its surroundings. A spirit troll does not reproduce naturally, but may be created by powerful spells or experiments.
