5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
An orc warchief is the strongest and most cunning member of an orc tribe, who commands the respect and fear of other orcs. The warchief is usually marked with the symbol of Gruumsh, the god of orcs, on its skin. The symbol is a triangular eye with bony protrusions, and it grants the warchief a connection to the deity’s power. An orc warchief is a brutal and savage warrior, who leads its tribe in raids and battles against other races. An orc warchief is typically armed with a greataxe or a spear, and wears chain mail armor. An orc warchief is a medium humanoid with darkvision, and has a chaotic evil alignment.
COMBAT
An orc warchief is a formidable opponent in combat, who can use its aggressive trait to move quickly toward a hostile creature. The warchief can also use its battle cry ability once per day, which gives advantage on attack rolls to itself and its allies within 30 feet, and allows the warchief to make an extra attack as a bonus action. The warchief can deal a lot of damage with its greataxe or spear, which are enhanced by Gruumsh’s fury, adding extra slashing or piercing damage to each hit. The warchief is also proficient in saving throws against strength, constitution, and wisdom, and has skills in intimidation.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
An orc warchief lives in the den of its tribe, which is usually located in a mountainous or forested area. The den is decorated with the spoils of war, such as furniture, weapons, and trophies from the enemies. The warchief has a war-hearth, where it gathers its warriors and plans the next raid or battle. The warchief also has a harem of mates, who bear its offspring. The warchief’s reign lasts only as long as it can maintain its authority over the tribe, which is often challenged by other ambitious orcs. The warchief’s goal is to expand its territory and resources, and to please Gruumsh by killing and destroying other races, especially elves, dwarves, and humans.
ECOLOGY
An orc warchief is a carnivorous creature, who feeds on the flesh of its enemies or any other available meat. The warchief also consumes alcohol and other intoxicants, which fuel its rage and bloodlust. The warchief is a prolific breeder, who can sire many children with its mates. The warchief’s children inherit some of its strength and cunning, and are raised to become loyal warriors of the tribe. The warchief is a natural leader, who can inspire and motivate other orcs to follow its commands. The warchief is also a devout follower of Gruumsh, who believes that the god has chosen it to be the ruler of all orcs and the destroyer of all other races.
