Innate Spellcasting. The mud slaad’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 8). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The Mud Slaad makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d6) piercing damage plus 4 (1d6 +1) poison damage. The target must succeed on a DC 11 Constitution saving throws or be infected with a disease that transforms the victim over the next week into a mud slaad. The infected creature can attempt a new save each day to throw off the infection.
  • Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d4) slashing damage. The target must succeed on a DC 11 Constitution saving throws or be infected with a disease that transforms the victim over the next week into a mud slaad. The infected creature can attempt a new save each day to throw off the infection.
  • Screech (Recharge 5-6). The mud slaad emits a loud and piercing screech that damages and deafens creatures within 30 feet of it. Each creature in that area must make a DC 8 Constitution saving throw or take 5 (2d6 -2) psychic damage and be deafened until the end of its next turn. A successful save halves the damage and negates the deafened condition.
  • Summon Help (Recharge 6). The mud slaad can use an action to summon another mud slaad within 60 feet of it that shares its color and subtype. The summoned mud slaad acts on the mud slaad’s initiative and obeys its commands. The summoned mud slaad disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the summoning mud slaad dies.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

Mud slaadi are the lowest and weakest of the slaadi, a race of frog-like aberrations that embody chaos and disorder. They are often considered failures or rejects by their stronger kin, who mock them for their small size, brownish skin, and lack of gemstones. Mud slaadi have a wide mouth full of sharp teeth, long arms ending in claws, and a tail that can be used as a weapon. They are about 5 feet tall and weigh about 170 pounds.

COMBAT

Mud slaadi are not very good at fighting, but they can still pose a threat to unsuspecting or unprepared foes. They have a loud screech that can damage things within 30 feet of them, and they can also try to summon another mud slaad or a red slaad for help. If they are outnumbered or outmatched, they will either cower in fear or pretend to be dead.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Mud slaadi live in the chaotic realm of Limbo, where they wander aimlessly or form small packs with up to ten members. They have no sense of loyalty or hierarchy among themselves, and they often betray each other for their own survival. They are also very cowardly and insecure, and they will flee from any danger or challenge.

ECOLOGY

Mud slaadi reproduce by infecting other creatures with a disease via their bite. This disease, likely a form of the chaos phage, turns the victim into a mud slaad over the course of a week, although for every day it lasts the victim has a chance of beating the illness. The mud slaad then feeds on the host’s flesh and blood until it is satisfied or dies. The mud slaad’s bite can also spread the disease to other creatures through contact or blood transfusion.
