Lizardmen are a group of humanoid creatures that share reptilian traits, such as scales, claws, and tails. They are often found in warm or temperate climates, such as swamps, jungles, or deserts. Lizardmen are not a single race, but rather a category that includes several distinct species, each with their own culture, abilities, and appearance. Some of the most common lizardmen species are:
- Lizardfolk: Lizardfolk are the most widespread and diverse of the lizardmen. They are usually neutral in alignment and worship a deity called Semuanya, who represents survival and propagation. Lizardfolk value things based on their practical use and have little interest in money, jewels, or knowledge that is not directly related to their survival. Lizardfolk can vary in color from green to brown to gray, and have darkvision and the ability to hold their breath for long periods of time. They are skilled hunters and warriors, and often use weapons and armor made from natural materials.
- Firenewt: Firenewts are a rare and aggressive species of lizardmen that inhabit volcanic regions. They are usually evil in alignment and worship a deity called Imix, who represents fire and destruction. Firenewts have red or orange scales and can breathe fire. They also have a natural resistance to fire damage and can withstand extreme heat. Firenewts often enslave other creatures, such as giant striders or salamanders, and use them as mounts or weapons.
- Troglodyte: Troglodytes are a primitive and savage species of lizardmen that dwell in dark caves or underground tunnels. They are usually chaotic evil in alignment and worship a deity called Laogzed, who represents hunger and decay. Troglodytes have gray or brown scales and can emit a foul stench that sickens nearby creatures. They also have darkvision and the ability to blend in with their surroundings. Troglodytes are fierce fighters and often attack other creatures for food or territory.
