5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A girallon is a monstrous creature that resembles a four-armed gorilla with white fur and tusks. It is a fearsome predator that hunts in the warm forests of the world, using its strength and agility to tear apart its prey. Girallons are not very intelligent, but they have keen senses and a fierce territorial instinct. They are often feared and revered by primitive tribes, who sometimes capture and train them as mounts or guardians.

COMBAT

A girallon attacks with its powerful bite and four claws, rending flesh and bone with ease. It can also use its arms to grapple and throw its enemies, or to climb trees and rocks. A girallon is very aggressive, and will not hesitate to charge at any intruder in its domain. It can also be cunning, using stealth and ambush tactics to surprise its prey. A girallon is not easily frightened, and will fight to the death unless severely wounded or outnumbered.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

A girallon lives in the dense jungles and forests of warm regions, where it can find plenty of food and shelter. It prefers to avoid open areas and human settlements, unless driven by hunger or curiosity. A girallon is usually solitary, roaming a large territory that it marks with its scent and scratches. Sometimes, a girallon may form a small group with a dominant leader, usually the oldest or strongest of the pack. These groups are not very stable, and may split or fight over resources or mates.

ECOLOGY

A girallon is a carnivore that feeds on any animal it can catch, from rodents and birds to deer and boars. It may also scavenge carrion or raid human camps for food. A girallon has few natural enemies, except for other girallons or larger predators like dragons or dinosaurs. A girallon has a low reproductive rate, giving birth to one or two cubs every few years. The cubs stay with their mother for about a year, learning how to hunt and survive in the wild. A girallon can live up to 20 years in captivity, but rarely reaches that age in the wild.
