Challenge 2 (450 XP)
Charge. If the boar moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a tusk attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) slashing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Relentless (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). If the boar takes 10 damage or less that would reduce it to 0 hit points, it is reduced to 1 hit point instead.
ACTIONS
- Tusk. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage.
- Tusk (suggested). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d6 + 3) slashing damage.
5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
A giant boar is a massive beast that resembles a wild pig, but much larger and fiercer. It has a typical pig-like shape with a long, blunt snout, small eyes, large ears, and two tusks protruding from its mouth. Its legs are longer and appear more powerful than that of a domestic pig. It has a very coarse, brown coat with thick, short hairs. A giant boar can grow up to 9 feet long and weigh up to 2,000 pounds.
COMBAT
A giant boar is a formidable opponent in combat, using its speed and strength to charge at its enemies and gore them with its tusks. It can also bite with its powerful jaws or trample smaller foes with its hooves. A giant boar is relentless in battle, refusing to go down even when severely wounded. It can shrug off minor injuries and continue fighting until it is killed or driven away. A giant boar is not very intelligent, but it has a keen sense of smell and hearing that help it locate prey and avoid danger.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
A giant boar prefers to live in forests, hills, or grasslands, where it can find plenty of food and cover. It is a solitary creature, except during the mating season, when it seeks out a mate of the opposite sex. A female giant boar gives birth to a litter of 1d6+1 piglets after a gestation period of six months. The piglets stay with their mother for about a year, learning how to hunt and survive on their own. A giant boar is territorial and aggressive, attacking any intruder that comes too close to its lair or food source. It does not tolerate other predators or competitors in its domain.
ECOLOGY
A giant boar is an omnivorous scavenger, feeding on plants, fruits, nuts, roots, fungi, carrion, and small animals. It can also hunt larger prey, such as deer, elk, or even humans, if it is hungry enough. A giant boar is valued for its meat, hide, and tusks by hunters and adventurers. Its meat is tough but tasty, its hide can be used to make leather or armor, and its tusks can be carved into weapons or ornaments.
Giant Boars can be used as mounts or pulling animals for vehicles.
