Dual Shields. The giant carries two shields, each of which is accounted for in the giant’s AC. The giant must stow or drop one of its shields to hurl rocks.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The giant makes two fireshield attacks.
  • Fireshield. Melee Weapon Attack:+ 13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (4d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage plus 7 (2d6) fire damage plus 7 (2d6) piercing damage.
  • Rock. Ranged Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, range 60/240 ft., one target. Hit: 30 (4d10 + 8) bludgeoning damage.
  • Shield Charge. The giant moves up to 30 feet in a straight line and can move through the space of any creature smaller than Huge. The first time it enters a creature’s space during this move, it makes a fireshield attack against that creature. If the attack hits, the target must also succeed on a DC 21 Strength saving throw or be pushed ahead of the giant for the rest of this move. If a creature fails the save by 5 or more, it is also knocked prone and takes 18 (3d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage, or 29 (6d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage if it was already prone.

5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.

It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it

DESCRIPTION

A fire giant dreadnought is a massive and fearsome warrior that wields two huge shields like plow blades. These shields bear spikes on the front and can be used to bash, crush, or impale enemies. The dreadnought’s armor is also adorned with metal plates and spikes, making it a walking fortress of destruction. The dreadnought’s skin is dark and its hair is flaming red, reflecting its affinity for fire and lava. A fire giant dreadnought stands about 18 feet tall and weighs about 7,000 pounds.

COMBAT

A fire giant dreadnought is a formidable opponent in combat, using its shields to charge, slam, and sweep enemies off their feet. The dreadnought can also hurl rocks or molten metal at foes from a distance, or use its shields to deflect incoming attacks. The dreadnought is immune to fire damage and resistant to cold damage, and can withstand extreme heat and pressure. The dreadnought is loyal to its fire giant kin and will fight to the death to defend them.

HABITAT / SOCIETY

Fire giant dreadnoughts dwell among volcanoes, lava flows, and rocky mountains, where they serve as elite guards and shock troops for their fire giant lords. Dreadnoughts are not crafters, but gain respect in fire giant societies for their superior combat training and use of their shields. Dreadnoughts are often sent on raids or missions to burn, plunder, and destroy enemy settlements or resources. Dreadnoughts speak Giant and sometimes Common or other languages.

ECOLOGY

Fire giant dreadnoughts are carnivorous and prefer to eat cooked meat, especially from large animals or monsters. They also enjoy drinking strong ale or wine, or molten metal if they can find it. Dreadnoughts have a long lifespan, but are prone to injuries and scars from their battles. Dreadnoughts rarely mate, but when they do, they produce strong offspring that inherit their traits. Dreadnoughts have few natural predators, but may face challenges from other giants, dragons, or powerful adventurers.
