5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
A decaton is a spherical creature with ten tentacles and four eyes that can rotate around its body. It has a mouth on the top of its sphere and two short legs on the bottom. A decaton is the lowest rank of the hierarch modrons, a race of mechanical beings that inhabit the plane of Mechanus. A decaton is about 4 feet in diameter and weighs about 300 pounds.
A decaton is the lowest order of officials found in modron society. These creatures are the overseers of the physical welfare of the base modrons, the voice of the great power to the working class. One decaton is in charge of each of the 64 sectors of Regulus, the modron realm in Mechanus, and the remaining 36 decatons serve in the modron armies.
COMBAT
A decaton is a capable spellcaster, able to duplicate the effects of various spells at will. It can also communicate telepathically with any creature within 44 miles, and remove paralysis from any modron by touch. A decaton can fly by generating a lifting gas that makes it lighter than air, but it usually only does so when commanding large numbers of base modrons. In melee combat, a decaton uses its tentacles to lash out at its enemies.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
There are only 100 decatons in modron society, and they serve as the caretakers of the lower-ranking modrons. They report to the nonatons, who relay the orders of the supreme modron ruler, Primus. A decaton is responsible for the physical welfare of the modrons under its command, and ensures that they perform their assigned tasks efficiently and orderly.
ECOLOGY
A decaton is a construct that does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe. It is immune to most forms of damage and magic, and can only be harmed by certain weapons or spells. A decaton does not age or reproduce, but it can be upgraded to a higher rank of hierarch modron if one of them is destroyed or promoted. A decaton has no emotions or personality, and follows the commands of Primus without question. A decaton has no interest in anything other than maintaining the order and harmony of Mechanus.
