Coral Appearance. When the golem remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal coral formation. Creatures must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom (Perception) check to discern the golem in its coral form.
Magic Resistance. The golem has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. The golem’s weapon attacks are magical.
ACTIONS
- Multiattack. The golem makes two slam attacks.
- Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (4d8 + 5) bludgeoning and piercing damage.
- Coral Growth (Recharge 4-6). If the golem hits a creature with its Slam attack, the coral begins to grow around the target. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or become restrained as coral rapidly grows around it. At the start of each of the target’s turns, the DC to break free increases by 1 and the target’s Dexterity score is reduced by 1, unless the target makes a successful Dexterity saving throw and breaks free of the coral growth.
5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
The Coral Golem is a magnificent construct, a fusion of arcane craftsmanship and the bounty of the sea. Sculpted from vibrant coral formations, these golems possess a stunning and often deceptive appearance. With intricate patterns and a myriad of colors, they blend seamlessly into their aquatic surroundings, standing as silent guardians over the treasures of the deep. Created by the secretive arts of both Sea Elves and Sahuagin, these constructs serve the whims of their oceanic creators, embodying either the artistry of the Sea Elves or the ferocity of the Sahuagin. The Coral Golem is a testament to the hidden magic that flows through the ocean’s depths, a marvel of both beauty and strength.
COMBAT
In combat, the Coral Golem is a force to be reckoned with, a testament to the hidden knowledge of its creators. Whether crafted by the elegant Sea Elves or the warlike Sahuagin, the golem uses its environment and magical coral growth to ensnare and overpower foes. Its combat style reflects the intentions of its creators, be it the graceful defense of the Sea Elves or the aggressive territorialism of the Sahuagin.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
Coral Golems are found in the domains of their creators, be it the serene underwater cities of the Sea Elves or the formidable strongholds of the Sahuagin. These constructs are solitary by design, standing guard over their assigned locations with unwavering dedication. The secret of their creation is a closely guarded treasure, shared only among the most trusted members of their respective societies. The areas guarded by the Coral Golems are often marked by the eerie sight of coralized intruders—adventurers, thieves, and creatures who have met their fate at the hands of the golem. These unfortunate souls are now part of the landscape, a stark warning to any who would dare trespass in the protected sanctuaries.
ECOLOGY
The Coral Golem’s existence is a delicate balance between arcane innovation and ecological impact. The Sea Elves and Sahuagin both ensure that the creation of these golems does not disrupt the natural order, using sustainable practices to harvest coral and imbue it with magical life. The golems themselves are neutral elements within the ecosystem, existing solely to fulfill the purpose set by their enigmatic creators.
