5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
A bronze scout is a clockwork construct that resembles a segmented worm with two telescoping eyestalks. It is made of bronze and has a metallic sheen. Its body is about 5 feet long and weighs about 100 pounds. It has a mouth with sharp teeth that can deliver a powerful bite and a jolt of electricity. A bronze scout is designed to serve as a spy, scout, or messenger for its creator. It can burrow through the earth and avoid detection with its stealthy movements and magic resistance. It understands one language of its creator but cannot speak.
COMBAT
A bronze scout prefers to avoid combat and retreat if possible. It uses its burrow speed and earth armor trait to escape from enemies without provoking opportunity attacks. If cornered or ordered to fight, it will bite its foes and shock them with lightning damage. It can also send electrical shocks through the ground to deter pursuers. A bronze scout is immune to poison and nonmagical physical damage, unless the weapons are made of adamantine. It is also immune to several conditions that affect living creatures, such as charm, exhaustion, fear, paralysis, petrification, and poison.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
A bronze scout does not have a natural habitat or society. It is an artificial being that follows the commands of its creator. It can be found in any environment where its creator sends it, but it prefers underground locations where it can burrow and hide more easily. A bronze scout does not need to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep, but it does require regular maintenance and repair from its creator or someone who knows how to work with clockwork devices. A bronze scout does not have emotions or personality, but it may develop some quirks or habits over time due to its imperfect construction.
ECOLOGY
A bronze scout has no impact on the ecology of its surroundings. It does not consume any resources or produce any waste. It does not interact with other creatures unless ordered to do so by its creator. It does not have any natural predators or allies, but it may face hostility from those who view it as a threat or a curiosity. A bronze scout can be destroyed by physical damage, magic, or environmental hazards, but it can also be repaired or reactivated if its core remains intact. A bronze scout may contain valuable materials or information that could be useful or dangerous to others.
