5th Edition Advanced Mode
Limiting the power of a character and making the overall difficulty of the game harder, does not reduce the creativity, indeed it does quite the opposite.
The Game Master has the option to use any and all of the instances proposed in this guide, or just some of them according to their preference.
It is the lack of something that move and motivate characters, not the abundance of it
DESCRIPTION
The Abominable Yeti is a huge, furry beast that resembles a cross between a bear and a humanoid. It has white fur that blends in with the snowy terrain, yellow eyes that glow with malice, and long claws that can tear through flesh and armor. Its mouth is full of sharp teeth, and its breath is so cold that it can freeze its enemies. The Abominable Yeti is a rare and powerful variant of the normal Yeti, which is already a formidable creature. The Abominable Yeti is much larger, stronger, and more intelligent than its cousins, and has a more developed sense of magic. It can use its chilling gaze to paralyze its prey, or unleash a blast of cold air from its mouth to freeze them solid. The Abominable Yeti is feared by all who dwell in the mountains, and even other Yetis avoid it if possible.
COMBAT
The Abominable Yeti is a savage and relentless hunter that will attack anything that enters its territory. It prefers to ambush its prey from a hidden position, using its snow camouflage and keen smell to locate them. It will then use its chilling gaze to immobilize one or more targets, and charge at them with its claws. If the prey resists or fights back, the Abominable Yeti will unleash its cold breath to finish them off. The Abominable Yeti is not afraid of fire, but it hates it with a passion. If it takes fire damage, it will become enraged and focus its attacks on the source of the fire, ignoring other threats. The Abominable Yeti will fight to the death, unless it is severely wounded or outnumbered by powerful foes.
HABITAT / SOCIETY
The Abominable Yeti lives in the highest and coldest regions of the world, where few other creatures can survive. It makes its lair in a cave or a crevice, where it hoards the bones and treasures of its victims. The Abominable Yeti is a solitary creature that rarely interacts with other Yetis, except to mate or fight. It considers itself the king of the mountain, and will not tolerate any intruders or rivals. The Abominable Yeti has a primitive sense of magic, and can sometimes sense the presence of powerful artifacts or spells in its domain. It will seek out these sources of magic, either to claim them for itself or to destroy them out of curiosity or spite.
ECOLOGY
The Abominable Yeti is an apex predator that feeds on any animal or humanoid that crosses its path. It has a voracious appetite, and will consume anything edible, including bones, fur, and metal. It can survive for long periods without food or water, thanks to its thick fur and cold resistance. The Abominable Yeti has few natural enemies, except for dragons, giants, and other powerful creatures that can challenge its dominance. The Abominable Yeti plays an important role in the ecology of the mountain, as it keeps the population of other creatures in check, and prevents them from overgrazing or depleting the resources. The Abominable Yeti also serves as a source of legend and fear for the people who live near the mountains, who tell stories of its ferocity and might.
