A Look Inside Fortnightly Adventures #3: The Sun’s Betrayal (OSE)

The Survivor’s Journal: Day 89

The humidity here is a physical weight. It’s not just the heat; it’s the feeling of a thousand eyes watching from the bark of the strangler figs. We’ve reached the Great Serpent Jungle. Leonora and her Tree House Clan gave us the antidote, but they won’t help us further unless we choose a side in the Pyramid. Between the Excavators digging for power and the Sinuous cultists begging for a god’s return, I’m not sure which is worse. But the chittering from the north… that’s what keeps me awake. Mboi-îpepo is waking up, and the sun feels like it’s turned its back on us.

The Great Serpent Jungle

The Sun’s Betrayal drops your party into a grueling environment where even the ground is an enemy. This level 2–4 module focuses on a land betrayed by its own protector, Aldair, who unleashed an ancient entity to scour the jungle clean.

  • Relics of the Sun God: Players must hunt for the Solar Disc, the Mask of the Dawn, and the Solar Song—ancient tools that are the only defense against the growing darkness.
  • The Tree House Clan: A wary community of scouts living in the canopy. They hold the secrets to the jungle’s flora but treat outsiders with poisoned darts and suspicion.

Ruins of Conflict: The Pyramid and The Temple

The module features three distinct dungeon environments, each with its own history and hazards.

  • The Pyramid: A majestic site now split between two warring factions—the Excavators and the Sinuous. Navigating their rivalry is as dangerous as the arrow traps in the entry halls.
  • The Temple in Ruins: A three-story stone monument choked by vines. It houses the “Stirge Maze” and the history of Aldair’s tragic descent into madness.
  • The Crevice: An unnatural fissure filled with spider-silk, stirges, and the gateway to a horrific sub-dimension.

The Nightmare: Mboi-îpepo

Deep within the Crevice, at the “Cocoon of the World,” dwells the Mboi-îpepo. Part serpent, part spider, this entity is a living nightmare that seeks to fill the world with its hatchlings.
