DUNGEON23 – Megadungeon Challenge – Room #33 – Level #2a – The Citadel

THE ANVIL OF THE GEHENNA

A duergar named Tharsil runs this weaponsmith.

He works especifically with cold iron and other complex materials coming from all the multiverse.

In general, Tharsil works for commissions and special peticion by exigent customers, but he always has some interesting piece of weapons on the racks of his workshop.

It is important to note he receives customers only by appointment.

1d6 assistants and apprentices are always present at his workshop, but only few manage to stay there for a long time.

Tharsil is interested in buying the Slaughterhouse (Room #24) and turns it into an Armory, to produce weapons in mass scale.

Malicious rumors say he is dealing with the Baatezu (Devils of the Nine Hells), who in returns are providing assistance and protection against Phylera (Crone of Chaos, Room #26 The Ruby Weed), who is also interested in the property.

The Truth about the Rumors

Well, here the truth is very simple, because the rumors are true! Tharsil are signed an agreement where he receives assistance and protection from the Baatezu, with the specific objective to purchase the Slaughterhouse and protecting the duergar against the murderous intent of Phylera.

In return, Tharsil will have to supply the Baatezu with a constant flow of weapons, once the slaughterhouse has been purchased. Tharsil’s main concern, and fear, is not being able to craft the required amount of weapons the Baatezu demands, a fact that explains his extreme hurry in finding and training enough assistants to help him in the production.

Phylera, who does not want to eliminate the dwarf and open a conflict with the Baatezu, targets Tharsil’s assistants from time to time, especially the most talented ones.

Phylera’s goal is yes to see Tharsil becomes the (temporary) owner of the Slaughterhouse, only to then being unable to fulfill the Oath made with the Baatezu…with the consequences you can imagine.

With Tharsil gone (dead, disappeared or worse), purchasing the slaughterhouse will then be an easy win. Who will dare to oppose the Crone move? YOU?
