Armor Class (AC). This is armor class provided by the specific armor. The armor class value detailed in the table DO NOT add to the base armor class of the character, which is 10. Some armors limit the bonus provided by high dexterity, this to reflect the “encumbrance” of the armor.
- In D&D 3.X/Pathfinder. In both rule systems the armor value was expressed as a bonus that summed to the base armor class of the character.
- In AD&D 2e. This rule system works as D&D 5e does.
Stealth. Some armors impose disadvantage on stealth checks. At DM discretion the disadvantage could be extended to other dexterity checks, depending on the specific circumstances.
Strength. The minimum strength score required to avoid losing 10 feet of speed.
DND Armor Materials
Armor materials in dnd are leather and steel. Typically, light armors are made of leather, medium armors are made of a combination of both, whilst heavy armors are made of steel.
