Learn and play Play AD&D 2e online sessions
I have decided to launch and introduction to ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS 2nd Edition.
The sessions are free and you are free to book them on Startplayinggames. The link will lead directly to my profile.
So, if you want to know more about AD&D 2e and you are simply curious to know more about the world of D&D I will be waiting for you.
The main tools are Discord and later Roll20 or Astral Tabletop when we will start with some one-shots that may evolve into mini-campaigns.
CONTENT OF THE AD&D 2e SESSIONS
- We will learn the essence of the game. Comparisons with D&D 3.5/Pathfinder and D&D 5e will help us to understand how the whole system works (or doesn’t).
- ABILITY SCORES. How the ability scores work in AD&D 2e and how they impact the game. Indeed, ability scores in AD&D 2e have more than one modifier and each ability score has its own type of modifier.
- ACTION ECONOMY. We will understand what a character can do in a single round of action. The basic of move action and standard action. By explaining the action economy, we will understand how combat works.
- PROFICIENCIES (weapon and non-weapon). We will see how the weapon and non-weapon proficiencies work, explaining them and we will understand how in someway they are the embrional state of skills as we know them in 3.5 and 5e.
- CHARACTER CLASSES & LEVEL ADVANCEMENT. We will see how classes work in AD&D 2e and how to advance to new levels. By comparing the principles of level advancement of the AD&D 2e and D&D 3.5/5e, we will understand the big leap between two philosophies.
- SPELLCASTING. How to launch spells, how to learn new ones. The difference between AD&D 2e and D&D 3.5/5e is not big, but some details require our attention.
- HOMEBREWING. The final step is to understand the importance of homebrewing in AD&D 2e. This rule system, more than anyother else in the universe of D&D, is the one who requires adjustment and adaptations due to its “descriptive” content in opposition to the “template” content of D&D 3.5/5e,
